Travel Show: Where's Tony?

Where’s Tony? is a weekly travel show which invites you to a wacky and one of a kind adventure. With a list highlighting the top things to see, to try, to eat, to experience and to discover in the featured destination.  It is hosted by none other than the witty and wacky DJ of Magic 89.9, Tonytony. With his crazy antics and daring pursuits in trying everything and anything in the name of adventure, you will be guaranteed of a one of a kind travel show.

First airing starts last March, I've been a follower of this show just recently before it ended its Season 1 airing. The charm of this show is not just the beautiful places that are mostly local provinces of the country it covers per episode but also of the wackiness of its fun hosts whose kinda naughty (hehe...), DJ Tonytony. As the teaser says, he will do anything and try everything in the name of adventure, you will expect a comedy-filled travel adventure with all of his crazy antics packed in this travel show!

What is also unique in this travel show is its injection of fun and comedy per episode that you wouldn't find boring to watch while you learn about the places it features. I also like the fact that they do interviews of local people in the province and featuring its local products to give viewers an authentic glimpse of what to expect in the place. They even feature out of the track sites to visit in the province.

Trip na Trip: Ang travel show ng bayan

One of the best travel show or perhaps the best local travel show in local television is ABS-CBN Channel 2's Trip na Trip. The award-winning travel show aims to promote the local tourism of the country and the provinces' tourist sights, accommodation, cuisine, things to do, must-try, must-see, etc. that every traveler needs to know in visiting a destination. This travel show promises a thrilling, exciting and fun-filled series of journeys and adventures in every Philippine destination it covers. Hosted by Katherine de Castro, and former Big Brother Housemates, Jason Gainza, Franzen Fajardo and Kian Kazemi, it is currently airing its 15th season!

Trip na Trip is technically shown every Friday midnight but the show is really aired every Saturday at 1:00am for an hour airing. It is produced by ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs and Bayan Productions, Inc.

Boracay episode

Trip na Trip is known to cover not the just the famed destinations and provinces of the country but also uncover the other provinces of the country that either has a tourism potential or slowly gaining a popularity in the local tourism for promotion and for travelers to further explore that province. This is what I like in this travel show, each of the provinces' wonder is highlighted and out-of-the-track place or provinces is explored. Watching Trip na Trip also makes me learn that there's something worth to see or must-try in other non-fame tourists destination of our country. I also liked the fact that they also show the affordable accommodations in each destination they featured. If the show happened to showcase the same destination in its episode, they try to inject something new and fresh to that province by featuring new things to try, see and stay in that destination. All of their travel tips in each destination and episode are useful!

The travel show has a huge follower especially overseas as ABS-CBN has a global airing network. I think its one of the longest local travel show airing in the local TV whereas its other rival local travel show has already defunct. Trip na Trip started airing in 2006. I can't imagine it has been airing for 5 years already and I still watch it! I am one of its avid-watchers and followers. This is one travel show recommended for travel-lovers, the only best travel show ng bayan, Trip na Trip!!!

Trip na Trip has a Facebook page. Fans may like the page here.

Pinoy Meets World is barely missed

Watching re-aired episodes of Pinoy Meets World via local channel QTV 11's Power Review makes me missed this unique travel show. This is one of the local travel show worth watching as it has been to many interesting countries and features its great places to visit, interesting history and unique cultures. It also accounts some of the lives of Filipinos living in the country it features in the show. Watching each country per episode of its airing makes you long to travel that country and discover its fascinating places and culture. Unfortunately, it wrapped up in January 2009.

I wished GMA 7 would revive this show or a similar travel show like this will grace again our local television as TV shows like Pinoy Meets World through its innovative style of public programming almost takes its viewers in a trip around the world. It will be a sure treat for travel lovers like me! I hope a DVD series episode compilation of this travel show would be release for much appreciation and see episodes I miss to watch. Pinoy Meets World is 2008 PMPC's Best Travel Show.

Here are some of the few clips from You Tube in their Romania and Turkey episode originally aired in 2006. More clips of their various episodes can be watch via You Tube.

Trip na Trip

Travel trotters around the Philippines, I recommend you to watch ABS-CBN Ch. 2's "Trip na Trip". Hosted by Kat de Castro and ex-PBB housemates Uma Khouny, Jason Gainza, Franzen Fajardo & Kian Kazemi, it airs every Friday 11:45pm to 1:00am. Watch the 2007 PMPC Awardee for Best Travel Show as it goes around the Philippines featuring the newest and exciting places to visit.

I, myself is a fan of this show but I wish they consider rescheduling its timeslot earlier as the show is airing so late. Saturday afternoon time would be fine. Here are some samples of their Puerto Galera episode and a clip featuring a popular resort from my hometown, Cavite.

Pinoy Meets World

One of my favorite travel shows - Pinoy Meets World will have a special airing on local channel GMA 7 for a special 2 day presentation for the Holy Week. It will be shown starting tomorrow for Thursday and Friday at late night 11:00pm slot. Pinoy Meets World is a travel show previously aired every Sunday late night that presents the adventures to sights and attractions and cultural explorations of hosts in various countries they visited. It started airing in 2006 via local channel GMA 7. Currently, it is defunct with the last episode shown last January.

My favorite episodes were their travels to Chile, Peru, Mauritius, Puerto Rico and various Carribean Islands episode while on a cruise ship. Below is a You Tube video sample of their Mauritius episode. Last year it was awarded by PMPC Star Awards for Television the Best Travel Show Award for 2008.

Watch also their another You Tube clip in their United Kingdom episode featuring England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. I recommend this show to watch for those who love travel trips like me. You'll definitely enjoy each episode of the show. I just wish that GMA will release a VCD/DVD episode compilation of the show so I can enjoy watching it over again.
